General Manager of Operations USL Distribution
Located on 1.6ha of land, our 6,000 sqm, 12-metre-high warehouse contains office space, a service area and covered canopy area. We also have a clean room for storage of sterile products. The warehouse is fitted out with 15 aisles of narrow aisle racking, with the ability to expand racking space for additional capacity. We have been audited by the Ministry of Health and are MPI accredited. The site is temperature controlled and USL is an ISO accredited company.
Essential to any warehousing and distribution business is stock control:
- We use a forecast and replenishment model (AFP) which allows us to manage the ordering cycles and stock requirement for over 300 suppliers and approximately 15,000 active SKU’s
- AFP manages the stock requirement based on a number of forecast formulas, as well as defined criteria i.e. lead time and review cycles

Patient direct logistics
USL Distribution has a dedicated team focussed on managing and distributing Patient Direct (PD) orders. When a District Health Board prescribes the required products for a patient, USL manages the process, generates orders, and delivers to patients at home.
Currently USL is managing the orders and products on behalf of the DHB’s for over 28,000 patients nationwide.
USL direct deliveries
USL Distribution operates a small truck that services the greater Auckland region. The USL vehicle is utilised to deliver large palletised orders, hospital beds, physio tables and other large items to public hospitals, medical centres, accident & medical centres, aged care facilities, physios, sports teams and other primary health providers. Having our own truck allows USL Distribution the flexibility to deliver shipments door-to-door to clients in a timely manner and to place them in a designated area as specified by the customer.
USL has had a long-standing relationship with Peter Baker Transport (PBT) which has allowed us to develop and implement a number of processes to ensure that both USL and PBT meet required service levels. We measure the achieved service level on a daily basis. The measure is taken from the time an order is released into our warehouse management system to the time it is dispatched.
“My role is to make sure that our customers get the correct delivery as specified - on time. Some of the items we dispatch make a huge difference in the life of customers, so it goes without saying that attention to detail and efficiency are prerequisites for working here.”
