Stock control

Essential to any warehousing and distribution business is stock control:

• We use a forecast and replenishment model (AFP) which allows us to manage the ordering cycles and stock requirement for over 300 suppliers and approximately 15,000 active SKU’s
• AFP manages the stock requirement based on a number of forecast formulas, as well as defined criteria i.e. lead time and review cycles
• We have a team of 4 purchasing staff who manage ordering and stock holding across all suppliers and lines – the team is supported by a group of analysts
• Our target is to carry 3 months’ stock holding (dependant on supplier location and lead time)
• GMROI information by line allows us to manage stock cover and turns
• A number of reports are available to help identify and manage stock holding, backorders and stock history
